נָקַד adj. speckled ;—only of sheep and goats; נ׳ Gn 30:32 ( ×2 ) , fpl. נְקֻדֹּות v 35 (all || טָלוּא ), mpl. נְקֻדִּים v 39 ( || id. + עֲקֻדִּים ;—all these J ); mpl. also 31:8 (×2) and ( + עֲקֻדִּים , בְּרֻדִּים ) v 1 0, 12 (all E ).

[ m. ] perhaps what is crumbled or easily crumbles, crumb ( cf. נְקֻדָּה );—only pl. 1. crumbs: כֹּל לֶחֶם צֵידָם יָבֵ˜שׁ הָיָה נִקֻּדִים Jos 9:5 all the bread of their provision was dry (and) become crumbs ( Ö βεβρωµένος[οι] ; É in frusta comminuti ), cf. יָבֵשׁ וְהָיָה נ׳ v 12 ( v. Di Ben n). 2. appar. a kind of (hard) biscuit or cake 1 K 14:3 (brought as present; + לֶחֶם , etc.).

נקד TWOT 1410, 1411 ( of foll. cf. Arabic نَقَدٌ (naqadun) a kind of small sheep with very abundant wool ( Jacob Altarab. Bed. Lebe n, 1897, 83 ), whence نَقَّادٌ ( naqqādun ) shepherd of this kind of sheep; נקד perhaps MI 30; Assyrian nâḳidu Dl HWB 479; cf. NH נֹוקֵד (rare) ) .
