עבט ( ^{perhaps √} of foll.; cf. Assyrian ubbuṭu˒ ( ^II. of אבט ^{[ =} עבט ^?]) be pledged Dl ^{HWB 6}; Aramaic ( Talm ) עֲבִיטָה pledge , עֲבַט Ithpe. be taken in pledge; but We Jo 2:7 thinks עֲבֹוט Aramaic loanword, and cp. Arabic ضَبَطَ ( ḍabaṭa ) hold, keep, guard ) .

Hiph.
